A lot of things influence my work.
The one with the most significant impact is music. I never work without it - it keeps me going and it's been a major source of inspiration for most of my works for as far as I can remember. My musical taste is very wide : I listen mostly to alternative rock, punk and metal and occasionally to classical, film soundtracks, folk, new age and electronica. On the other hand, I don't like R'n'B, commercial dance and Country & Western. My favourite artists change frequently depending on what I'm working on or what I have discovered but among those I always come back to are : Muse, die toten Hosen, the Beatles, Mylène Farmer, My Chemical Romance, Funeral For A Friend, Nightwish, die Ärzte and U2.
Films and books have also contributed to shape my aesthetic vision. My taste in those is as wide as in music yet I have a stronger inclination to all things dark and weird with my favourite director being Tim Burton and my favourite writer Neil Gaiman.
I have however very few favourite illustrators and photographers, as I had been trying to cultivate a style of my own. Mangas have been my reference for a long time but western comic artists like Frank Miller, James Jean and Dave McKean helped me vary my style.
Outside the arts, my environment is also instrumental in shaping my works. Whenever I visit or settle in a place, I try to find out as much as possible about it - history, legends - and capture its atmosphere camera or notebook in hand.
